Workshop The analysis of social and environmental conflicts in Chile

Goethe University Frankfurt, Red INVECA (the network of Chilean researchers in Germany) and the Centre for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES) invite sub-missions for the academic workshop “The analysis of social and environmental conflicts in Chile”.

The main goal is to bring together researchers from different disciplines (anthropology, economics, history, political science, sociology, etc.) to present and discuss original studies. Research on all related topics are welcomed, but the main focus will be on quantitative and qualitative analysis on:

  • The Mapuche conflict
  • New social movements
  • The impact of natural resources exploitation on local communities
  • New data for conflict measurement.

The workshop will take place on the 28th and 29th of September at Goethe University Frankfurt, Campus Westend. Beside the presentations, there will be keynote speakers and a special session to present the Mapuche Data Project (MDP) and the Mapuche Conflict Events Database (MACEDA).

Additional information, including the updated program and the registration form, can be found on the workshop’s webpage: https://sites.google.com/view/workshop-conflicts-chile

Submissions must be full papers or extended abstracts (at least 1,000 words). The studies must be submitted as a single pdf to the email workshop.conflicts.chile@gmail.com as well as filling in the online registration form on the workshop’s webpage. Application deadline is August 13, 2017 at midnight (CET). The results of the selection by the scientific committee are expected to be communicated in the first week of September.
