[EVENTO] Stefanie Eckman dará charla en Sociología UC

Stephanie Eckman

La especialista del RTI International, Stefanie Eckman (ver aquí CV) presentará su charla titulada “Are High Response Rates Good for Data Quality? Evidence from the European Social Survey”. el jueves 7 de enero a las 14 hrs en la sala Magíster del Instituto de Sociología de la Universidad Católica (Campus San Joaquín) (Mapa aquí)

Abtract:
“Using data from the first six rounds of the European Social Survey, we test the relative contributions of response rates and sampling method to the representativity of the survey data. We find that high response rates do not lead to high data quality, and in fact may signal low data quality, especially when combined with interviewer-driven selection methods. We conclude that response rate standards can create inappropriate incentives during data collection that have negative impacts on data quality. We also caution strongly against the use of selection methods that rely on interviewer involvement when other options are available.”
