Lead Researcher in the COES Geographies of Conflict Line, Director and Professor with the Universidad Diego Portales School of Sociology. She holds a doctorate in Sociology from University of Manchester in the UK and magísters in Cultural Studies and Anthropology & Development. Dr. Méndez is currently Lead Researcher on Fondecyt Regular Project No. 1140136 (2014-2018), “The Upper Middle Class in Chile Today: On Old and New Barriers, Practices and Costs of the Reproduction of Class Position.” Her research topics include subjective aspects of mobility and social stratification, the construction of belonging in urban neighborhoods and urban conflicts.
